Every fall I got the urge to trade in my 02 RK for an Ultra. This year my wife insisted I buy it as a fiftieth birthday present. That was all the incentive I needed. To me the difference between the Ultra and RK was more comfort. The radio is great, and the 07's have more torque and that great six speed. Plus the bike handles like a dream. Initially thought it was a little top heavy, but once I rode it, that perception went away. I must have gotten a "good one" because I have none of the issues that I have read about on this forum. I should have done it sooner, but I am glad I waited for the 07's with the upgrades. I like the stock exhaust on the 07, a little louder than what my RK came with stock. I am resisting the urge to do an exhaust and AC, until I see what the after market comes up with for these 07's with the closed loop EFI. Just my 02. Good luck with your decision.

I have put over 125,000 miles on Ultra Classics in the last 9 years. Ride the twisties on a regular basis. Usually take a couple of long trips each year. Love the E-glide.

i prefer the RK w/a tour pak over the UC. the reason being is that the fairing on the UC is fixed.... i really enjoy riding without a shield on nice, warm summer days. you cant do that with an UC. sure, you can dress it down by removing things- and reinstall them for trips... but, its basically personal preference. the UC isnt 'better' than the RK and vice versa... hell, theyre basically the same freakin bike!

I went with the Classic, and I am pleased with that decision. I didn't see a need for the lower fairings, intercom and rear speakers. It is without a doubt a different ride and great for those long trips.

Keep the Wide Glide for solo riding or short in town rides.

It was a no brainer for me. I upgraded from the 92 FXSTC to the 04 FLHTCUI. It was the best move for me and my wife to be able to stretch out and enjoy the roads.

Go with your gut and get the bagger and enjoy all the comforts that come with it. Cruise control, 4 speaker stereo and your wife not complaing her butt hurts on the longs rides.

Good luck!

I went with the Classic....
If you don't need the lowers, the cruise & the CB the Classic is a better buy for the money. I run the cloth clowers and if the rear speakers are important (I don't have them) Pez from Hog tunes can hook you up. You'd be amazed at what a 203 cam, hiflow AC and exhaust will do for power.. Baggers don't have to be the slower bike...

luvmyflhtcui I concur...a few years ago when my wife was riding with me, we had an EC and put 30k miles on it in one year. She could ride back there for hours (one trip to Sturgis we rode 14 hours in one day) and she never complained. It is a great riding bike.
Oh well...times change and she doesn't ride anymore so I got something a little better for city riding: Street Glide

Ride safe,

I was in your same boat in the summer, I had a 05 Super Glide Custom that I put a ton of money into and loved her, but all my froiends had RK and EC or UC...
Oh what to do, I wanted to do the long rides but my a$$ was killing me even with the touring seat on FXDC.
I got the Ultra and my wife kep the FXDC, what a combo, I love the UC, it is a awesome machine !

The wife took the MC Safety course and then got her license so we can ride seperatly or ride together.

Get the Bagger, you will love it !
