Hey jm , I went from a Buell Lightning XB12S to a EG Standard this year.
I went from 400 lbs and 100 horse to 750 lbs and less HP.
I loved to ride the "bike" when I was on my Buell , I enjoy the "ride" now that I have the Glide.
My wife really likes the EGS better also.Go figure...
Handling is pretty good at anything over 3 mph and it feels way lighter than it is , while underway.
Now I know why older bikers have that big grin when they roll down the road.
Once you go Bagger , you never usually go back.

I've ridden a Road King since 01, this summer I got an 07 Ultra Classic and I love it. Stroker motor, Tall Gearing, comfort, radio, CB, intercom. It has good slow speed manuvering with practice and takes the twisties pretty good. Cruising down the highway at 80 Im running 2900 rpm. The gearing does take some getting used to though on the 07, I for one think harley did it good. I say get it and dont look back. Enjoy the ride.

I think it's more about how much you want to ride and where you want to ride. If you ride to the next town, stop and chat and mingle and then ride to the next town and stop and chat and mingle then go home or just ride the big city streets then the Superglide is a great bike. but if your one of the lets go for a ride and 300 miles later you start thinking about heading for home or lets just keep going to where ever then the ElectraGlides are GREAT bikes.
the SuperGlides are great 50,100,150 mile a day bikes and the ElectraGlides are 200,300,400,500 miles a day bikes.
Hey guys,.... thanks for all the responses,..... I've pretty much decided to go ahead and go with the Ultra Classic. The wife is all for the idea of the added comfort for us on longer rides,.... but couldnt convince her into us keeping the Superglide and also getting the UC,.... LOL I'm gonna go ahead and order mine in Feb,... But I gotta get all the Christmas stuff and our winter vacation outta the way first.
i went from an 06 heritage to an 07 ultra classic and absolutely love it! i had some of the same reservations you did after hearing about how heavy the ultras were. the only time i notice the extra weight is when i come to a stop. handles like a dream otherwise! good luck!
The Electraglides are the ultimate ride. I'd love to know where that Geezer Glide thing came from. Glides are for RIDERS. If you are going to pack on the miles, you want the Glide - any of them. My buddies who like to use that expression put 1/10th the mileage on thier super cool rigid, chopped (read - no handling), 1 gallon gas tank, ridiculously loud, seat the size of a deck of cards customs.
Thier bikes look great parked in front of the strip club - and I don't have a problem with it if it's what you bought it for - but they drive a few hundred miles a year. I drive a few hundered miles a day.
