Default considering Ultra Classic

I bought a new 06 Superglide this past May, and I have done alot of chrome and different things to it to make it "my", bike and overall I'm really pleased with it. And here comes the "BUT",... But, most of the guys that I ride with have baggers and since I'm really starting to wanna make some longer rides and bring the wife along too,... I've been considering selling my bike and getting a new 07 Peace Officer Special Edition Ultra Classic Electra Glide or a Peace Officer Road King. Even though I'm only 35,... I dont care about it being called a geezer glide. I am now looking for the most comfortable ride on long trips. I'm kinda leaning towards the Ultra Classic but am wandering if they feel sluggish with all that weight or if they are still nimble enough to enjoy riding in the mountains. But I somehow think any trip with the wife on board would be better on the Ultra Classic since it has alot more creature comforts. Also looking for suggestions on those that have went from Dynas to a Bagger.

Thanks,
John

I think all the answers to your concerns are in this thread:

Went from '05 Heritage to '07 Ultra. No sluggishness, in fact, runs much stronger that the Heritage. My only complaint was lean, hot running condition and pinging. Mostly solved with PCIII. I haven't ridden a Road King, but I wouldn't trade back the faring for a windshield. And the Cruise and radio are great.

It may seem painful leading up to it... but once ya do it, you'll never look back! All the Baggers ride great. Don;t over look the RoadGlide! It's kinda best of both worlds.... Dagger convenience, but sport-like handling. THere is a difference!

John,

I'm 35 and bought my first bike, a 97 Gold Wing, 7 years ago. Nothing wrong with being young and riding a tourer. I bought an 02 Ultra this spring and love it. It feels like less of a "Geezer Ride" than the Wing did. I put a good number of miles on a year and do a bunch of road trips. The Ultra handles great. The low speed handling is much better than the Wing. Mountian riding on the Ultra is no problem. I ride pretty hard and the Ultra does just fine. It is not a sport tourer, but, I knew that when I bought it. I would say do it.

Buy an Ultra. Trust me, let them call it what they will. The joke is on them, brother. I think others will back up what I say.

I recently upgraded from an 02 SuperGlide to an 04 ElectraGlide Classic, and yes there is a big difference in performance, the Super will blow the dresser away. Its all about comfort with the dresser. I too am only 35 and already my buddies are bustin my ***** about the Geezer Glide. I get the last laugh when we get off the bikes after an all day ride and they are cryin because theyre butts or backs are killin them. If you want to cruise go with the dresser, you wont regret it, and the power is still ample enough with the dresser. I cruise the highway at 75 or 80 and its as smooth as glass.

I am considering selling my RK and going to a UC also. It's only money. I may wait a year until this transmission issue gets resolved.

[color=#0033CC]Go with the U/C POS. No regrets! Now if I could have two bikes, the second one would be the Road Glide.

Forget about the weight of the bike. It's how you ride it. A good rider can ride any bike......your skills provide you the ability to ride any bike. You get used to the U/C pretty quick.

Now if your 5'-00" nothing and weigh 125 lbs. you may wanna get a smaller bike...like a Sportster. Ride and enjoy.
