new 2011 street glide.ride is ruff as hell.bottoms out.makes noise.tried 40 pounds with 2 up,27 with 2 up.any ideas?doesent even ride as good as my 06 softail.Did i waste my money?
I know exactly how you feel...
My 2011 streetglide feels like a rigid compared to my 04 fatboy I traded in.
I've adjusted the air settings in 2 and 3 pound incriments all the way up and down with no luck. Basically I've decided the shorter 12" shock is the problem.
I'm planning on putting on some 13" progressives and installing one of those 1" lowering block shock mounts.
Should have more shock travel, better shock performance, and the same ride height that I have now..
Yes, my 2011 FLTRX rides ruff. The shocks are short at around 12" My 07 FLHT STD rode great but had 13" shocks. Try the 13". Hd has some shocks & there are a few companys out there also but you'll pay for them
If you want a soft ride of a Road King, yes you did waste your money. I have tried three shock combo's on my Street Glide and ended up with Bitchin Bagger 10 3/4" shocks with about 15psi. Yes when I hit a bump my **** gets bounced around, but it looks cool. For two up we ride the girlfriends Road King. Now if I can figure out this buffeting problem.
I had a 93 fat boy. I know what your saying about the ride but I will say I can fling this bike around turns and stuff with it's stiffer ride than I ever could with my old bike. The best way to describe it is to go from a caddy to driving a BMW. Very stiff but very fun.
I did have to swap out those suck air shoucks to stop bottoming out. I'm only 6 foot 235. Those air shocks were going to destroy my bike. Didn't matter what pressure I had in there.
