Grinding noise in front wheel

I have a 2010 Heritage and just started noticing a grinding noise in the front wheel when I lean into a turn. It's not a scraping noise like something rubbing the tire but almost like the brakes are rubbing. The bike has only 10,000 miles so I'm hoping it's not the bearings. Is there a way to check the bearings without taking it to the shop?

Just changed front wheel bearings on my 09 RKC....8000 miles. Pretty sad.
