To echo 2WHEEL.....>

Compression shorts are intended for the athlete that is engaged in sports, etc. They do exactly that...COMPRESS for muscle "Stuff". The material used also helps with climate, sweat etc. They have seams in areas that might not be good for a motorcycle rider.

There are undergarments that are made of the sweat wicking materials without the "Compression". They still provide a tight fit and will reduce chaffing, etc. Most are short but now they offer longer lengths.

Take a look at the LDComfort shorts. This is the garment of choice for me for long runs. Around town I use under armour "Non compression" shorts. They're even mentioned as the undergarment of choice by the IBA.

I have many pair of UA that I have purchased at Dicks sporting goods. The UA are made to wick the moisture. I buy the longer ones that come to the top of my knee.

Hello, Springer 03,
At first glance, bike shorts and compression shorts might look very similar. Both are form-fitting, made of some material like spandex, and obviously designed for athletes. After looking further, however, the two types of shorts have some fundamental differences that cannot be overlooked. Since we have seen some people trying to use compression shorts as cycling shorts, we thought this article was important. True compression shorts are not to be confused with cycling shorts or triathlon shorts.

google "motorcycle underwear". They make underwear specifically for motorcycle riding. Some of it can get very pricey but if you are on a trip, they are worth it.

Funny but interesting discussion topic...some of you old dudes might remember that back in the day we typically wore shrink to fit 501 Levi's (baggy in the butt) sans underwear on long rides...and the seats back then were not known for comfort...

Of course, my old butt is much more sensitive now and butt ache is more of a problem now than it was back then...

I imagine they have changed a lot since his post in 2011!
