Rider backrest
I am going to get a rider backrest for the Electra glide and was wondering how many have one? I am afraid of being pushed forward by it. Should I bite the bullet and go adjustable?
I think they all are adjustable, just depends on whether you want to be able to adjust it while riding like the Mustang and HD adjustable, or use an allen wrench before getting on such as the standard HD and Utopia. Don't know about the other types, Corbin etc.
I had a backrest from HD (the non-adjustable) when I first bought the bike then got one from Mustang when I changed seats. The Mustang backrest is adjustable, but either way I wouldn't leave home without my backrest. It does make quite a bit of difference.
Correct they are both adjustable 1 has a button that you can adjust on the fly and the other you have to use a Allen wrench. I got the 1 with the Allen wrench for my 2011 Electra did not feel that it was worth the extra $100 dollars or so for the adjustable because once I got it figured out on the position I like I don't need to move it and I also don't like clutter and having another line running under the seat and popping out from the side. It's a different world with a backrest on a long trip and I slide it off when riding 2up.
I have enjoyed the Mustang on several bikes. It's well made, adjustable, and is small enough that it doesn't overwhelm the seat and detract from appearance.

After breaking my back in 09 I got one. It really extends ride time and makes the bike feel like a recliner. I didn't like the regular backrest so I sold it and got the adjustable. It's well worth the extra cash.
