I went with the adjustable for a number of reasons. The most important is no matter how thick your clothing or how many layers you can adjust on the fly to accommodate any changes you make AM to PM. I had one put on last winter and love it. You can also change it slightly on the long trips just to change the posture slightly. Mine goes back further than I would place it. Only thing I notice in really warm weather... which we seldom get here... is it cuts down on circulation and cooling. However,Ii can adjust it back in those conditions and not use it if I choose.

An alternative to consider - Grasshopper Limited in Beloit WI offers a no frills backrest. Just rode up there today for one based on my bro's satisfaction for 2 years with his. Won't style match. Won't adjust. But I can use the extra hundred plus dollars for something else and the ride home was a joy.

Exactly, the "non adjustable" can be adjusted but you have to move the hardware around a little. I love mine and think it was some of the best money I've spent on the bike.
