I just did this , vance and hines power sual head pipe ( x pipe) works amzaing , a bit louder and sounds and performs great
Ditto.
I just went from a completely stock motor/intake/exhaust to adding a V&H Powerdual header and keeping the stock mufflers. Noticeable difference in depth of tone and just a bit louder but still mellow (which is what I was looking for). A nice change. I may actually just stay with the stock mufflers now as this was about what I was wanting. I did then add a SE Ventilator air cleaner kit and this then added just a teeny bit more improvement to the sound. Now I plan to just leave it alone as i don't like loud pipes and want to hear my iPod/earbuds while on the road.
I started with 3.5 inch rinehart slip ons and stage 1 intake - then added V&H DD. Louded for sure but nice and still mellow at cruising speed. May have lost some low end tourque but not that big of deal - all set up for displacement option if and when the time comes. Lots of head pipes out on the market. I like the look and fit of my selection and they were not too difficult to install. ride safe and often.
