I have 4" Rineharts on a 2011 Ultra and I like the sound as it is now. If I add headers will it make too loud? I could handle a small increase in volume, but not much. Thanks
They offer a quiet baffle for their mufflers. Don't know what the trade off will be though as far as what kind of performance you give up for quiet compared to what you will get for the head pipes. I would ask Rinehart. They may be able to give you some dB numbers for comparison.
I have this combination and taking out the cat made it considerably louder. Not a straight pipe sound but a very deep open sound. The bike runs considerably cooler especially for the passenger.
It will for sure be louder! Sound however is so subjective to everyone. What is loud for me may not be loud to you.
Mind you, I have the 110" and had the V&H Dresser True Duals w/ 3 1/2" Rineharts and I thought the sound was perfect for me. Loud when you cranked on the throttle and mellow and cruise. You could still hear the tunes. A big plus is that you are getting rid of that cat in the stock header and you WILL feel a big difference with less heat.
However, I do love the sound of the true dual better, I have swapped the dresser dual for a Fulsac header. Stepped, black ceramic coated 2-1-2 which produces more horses (7-10 more ponnies) and it is more quiet.
If you want the V&H Dresser Duals check w/ Dr. V-twin or may I suggest Eastern Performance Cycles. Best Price, and quick turn around time.
As everyone says, loudness is subjective. That said, I noticed a big difference when adding the Fullsac header pipe but it was a difference that I liked. I think because of the 4" Rineharts it still has the deep rumble but just louder when you hit the throttle hard. My wife noticed the difference right away. She didn't complain but I got a lot of "I can't hear what you're saying". Still cruising at 80 or so I can hear the tunes with no problem. I am very happy with the reduction of heat. I did the complete stage 1 upgrade from Fullsac and was very happy with everything. There is a noticable difference in power. Not so much in the taking off but when you hit 3rd or 4th, you can really feel it pulling. I don't think you can go wrong with the Fullsac pipe.
