I've already done a search to help answer my questions but couldn't find anything specific. Hope I'm not repeating.
I would like to install a sound system on my RK Classic. Not that I'm really impressed with large speakers clamped to the handlebars, it seems as if it's the only way I'm going to get quality sound. Can some one give me advise on what brand to purchase? I am looking at "Uniq sytems" w/ the 150 watt mini amp - 4.75" speakers by Pioneer, and also looking at the "Rumble Road" system with less watts, 4" Blaupunkt speakers. I believe these two systems are comparible but was hoping that all you tech guys could help my decision making based on likes, dislikes, and reasons.
On my 2001 Roadking I wanted tunes, so I went to motorcycletunes.com and purchased their marine radio with wired remote, mounted the radio in the saddle bag and run the remote up to the screw on the dash just above the seat, it worked great, but still had the UGLY *** speakers mounted on the handle bars, you get used to them after a few miles with tunes
Hey 03Classicking, I know what you going through. IMO that external speaker clamped on the handle bars, looks so ugly. So I went with dragon fly concept fairing. You can just get the fairing and install your own radio. The pictures of my scoot, has everything on it. Normally I just ride with the solo seat and tunes. I have speakers in the tour pak and they are Harley speakers, and they sound like a transistor radio. This winter Iâm going to replace them with Pezâs Hog tunes speaker. At first I thought I would use the fairing sometime i.e. detachable. But love the tunes so much, itâs never coming off.
I didn't want big speakers mounted on my bike either. To get tunes on my RK I went with noise-cancelling earbuds and an extension cable plugged into the audio output jack on a Sirius sattelite radio. I run quieter mufflers anyway, so all I needed to add was a taller windshield so the earbuds don't get blown away.
<<<Pics in my album show the radio and antenna mounted. The 6' audio extension cable runs under the tank & seat. The cable end is zip tied to the right rear shock air line and tucked in the solo seat's skirt when not in use.
