Default Kicker PS5250 Speakers

Has anyone installed these speakers on their bike?

http://www.kicker.com/ps5250

Do they fit and sound OK? Is it worth upgrading to these from the stock speakers? I am going to pick up a 2012 Street Glide this week and from what I hear the stock speakers are not that great. I am not planning on adding any separate amplifiers, or other speakers.

Thanks

Unless you add an amp, new speakers, tweeters, etc..., your not going to notice much of a difference in my opinion. You may think you do because you spent all this money and time installing it. I upgraded my speakers (not with these) and it sounds great (better than stock) sitting in the garage but on the road, it's about the same. So my advice/opinion is, save your money on the stereo upgrades until you can't find anything else on the bike to upgrade... Congratulations on the new one.

I disagree with some of your statement. True, to get full potential from your system you will need an amp. But the oem HD speakers are so bad at higher volumes. Mine distort terribly. If he hears same thing I do, then speaker upgrade is a good move. As far as the kickers go, seem a bit expensive for a 5.25" You could get J&M 7.25 for same price. Or for for just a bit more you can go with a hog tunes kit amp/speakers. I would contact DrVtwin. He has experience with both products and can get you headed in the direction that is good for you.

Which J&M 7.25 are you using?

Just the standard 7.25s, not the Rokkers. $199 from Phat performance.

I installed the 4 ohm 525 kickers in my 05 electraglide. They were an imporvment over stock and I enjoy them, especially because I got mine cheap from a guy that had them new in the box but needed money. Spring for some dynamat though because I really think it helps with some of the distortion caused by the inside of the fairing.

I know a freind of mine really enjoyed my speakers the other day when he was riding behind me. He was about 4 or 5 bike lengths behind me and thought my stereo sounded great.
