Has anyone moved their coil on a road king? I lifted the tank on my neighbor's road king and on a buddies sporty, also on the sporty I relocated the coil and ignition. It cleaned it up alot under the tank in the front. My neighbor is now wanting to relocate his coil. Let me know if you have any ideas or experience with this.
Did you ever re-Locate the coil on the Roadking? I am thinking of doing this on my 94 roadking. Wondering what was involved, how does it look, was it worth it?
I raised my tank 3" and had the same issue; the coil looked like crap!
I ended up bastardizing my cowbell bracket to mount my coil on it and then used a $20.00 coil cover from JP Cycles to hide it.
I relocated my horn to the space created under the tank tunnel by bolting to the raceway cover for the wiring. Then I got a sheet of refrigerator magnet material and mounting taped it to the inside of the stock tunnel skirt. This covers the tunnel so torrential downpours can't get in, but still let's the horn sound out.
I'm planning to get the Accel coils that sit on the plugs eventually, but for now this is working out ok.
I like the look and the engine gets to vent more heat than the stock level of the tank.
I also went to the street slammer cover so I can have risers to bring the curve of the bars up so they won't strike the tank... Another money hole!

on my 04 RKC I attempted this and moved coil to open area below seat. To mount coil you will have to move ground straps to back of that section of frame. then locate one spark plug wire that will reach the front cylinder. after messing with this for a couple of hours I decided that getting the stealth coils was a much better solution. found them for 193.99 at www.mandmcycles.com.
I lifted the tank on my last bike which was an '07 RK and hated the way the coil looked as well.
Ended up mounting the coil inside the horn cover. The horn was useless anyway so I just mounted that coil inside the horn cover. Really cleaned up the area under the tank after it was lifted.
