I was at the dealer today, and one of the salesman told me that the moco redid the rear shocks on the ultra in 2010. He says they're a lot better than the originals on my 09, and that I might want to consider changing them out. Anybody heard anything about this?

I haven't heard this, but based on your post I'd be interested to find out if the stock shocks were upgraded. I can't even find a part # for the 2010, 2011 or 2012 Ultra shocks. Anybody have a part number for the new stock Ultra shocks?

I'd say the salesman was either lying or didn't know what he was talking about, but as we all know, they know everything and always tell the truth...

Can anyone verify that the rear shocks were upgraded on 2010 touring models? Or verify that they weren't? I know my '09 Ultra Classic shocks can hold up to 50 psi, about twice as much as prior years I think, but I had not heard that the '10 and newer shocks had been "improved". As a matter of fact, I can't even find part numbers for '09, '10, '11 or '12 stock shocks. All I find in the catalog is for "profile low" shocks to lower your bike. Anyone have access to part numbers for late model UC stock shocks?

I can verify that the stock air shocks on my 2010 Street Glide were pieces of ****, and that I replaced them with Progressive 440s, and then replaced them again with Ohlins 3-3s.
Research Ohlins here on this forum, and don't waste your money on MoCo junk that you can't even adjust for length, pre-load, or compression/rebound damping.
I can verify that the 2011 shocks are equally horrible to the 2010. I'm pretty sure harley's RD spent a tremendous amount of hours on deciding how can we make these bikes ride like sh*t and then sell them our premium sub par shocks.
I'm not gonna reward Harley by buying their "premium" shocks after they put sh*t shocks on my 25K Ultra Limited to start with. What's worse is the professional bike reviewers gave glowing reviews of the new frames & bikes, yet neglected to mention the shocks are inadequate.
Just when I thought Harley had the harshest suspension, I test rode a Victory Cross Country, a week ago and it was worse!
I'm gonna try Ohlins once I figure out what model is best suited for my needs. The Ohlins site says the HD 022 for 2010 FLH Touring, but no picture!

I test rode a 2012 Road Glide Ultra with my woman. I used my own shock pump to put the shocks at 50psi and took note of the part number. Still has a -09 part number on the '12 bike, so it's the same shock unless they made a running change I'm not aware of.
I will tell you, after hopping off my '10 Street Glide with 13" shocks off a 2010 Ultra, the new Road Glide Ultra did ride better. Only thing I can think is that the Tour Pack made the bike ride smoother.
I was almost sold, if the dealer I was test riding the bike at wasn't so dishonest in their business practices.
