If it were me, I'd have stopped payment on the cashiers check. In WI we have a 3 day right of recision. Deal is not cast until 3 buisness days have past. I'd call and tell the come get THEIR bike.
27 miles and already broke. These bikes are junk. I love mine but the quality is still junk. this forum is full of quality isssues everyday and it pisses me off that harley continues to build junk, well junk that rides great, looks great and sounds great. Ok I feel better now
Considering your opinion of Harleys, I'm totally amazed you bought one. If you feel they are junk, why did you even buy one? Do you normally buy stuff you consider to be junk?
The machine itself isn't junk. The dealer is an unbelievable tool though and should be publicly dragged over the coals for the way they've treated you.
Interesting that they got all chummy with you again after getting negative feedback on FaceBook. Amazing what some bad press can achieve, huh?
I've never bought a new Harley. But if I did, and I only made it 27 miles before it died and got the kind of customer service you got from the very people you just bought it from, I would take it back and get my money back. I would then devote the next 10 years or so of my life to spreading the news about the dealer; while riding my new Victory.
I doubt it! First of all the dealer isn't going to give the money back.
I discovered that they had never actually opened the hood and looked at the car. It started when they went to pull it in and, they put us right back on the road w/o even looking at it.
That's called a wall job. You take the customers car, and park it out back by the wall. If they were really unscrupulous, they would have charged you an hour of labor or "diagnostic" fees.
If my dealer had treated me like that, I would've parked it right in front of the front door as close as I could, then slid in when I felt like it to get it fixed. Most dealers around here will stay open to take care of things like that. They may not touch it till the next day, but they would never leave you stranded.
This is a wierd story, Brand new bike driving home, breaks down and the dealer will not make good on their sale. Did you get the sales person involved.
Eitther way if you are happy that is all that matters. Me I would take money elsewhere. I just don't do business with people like that.
A Story, I bought a brand new Black Street Glide from Westminster Harley, While the the saless person was giving me a intro on my bike. The now sales mamager Tracy Todd asks the sales person tomove the bike and conversation outside because they want to close up. I am thinking I just spent $21,000.00 cash with you and you are going to boot me out while I am getting the orientation on the new bike. Also the only thing she could say about the bike back then was how good you looked on the bike. Needless to say I have bought 4 other bikes from any dealer but Westminster. You only need to treat me stupid once, I vote with my feet.
Well this is finally over. The dealer paid for the tow in service. They also threw in a 1K service. All work will be done at another location. This dealer happens to own 4. The only bad news is it will take 3 days to do a 1k service and 5 days for the cams, and they are booked through Sept 12th. I was hoping to get the work complete before I went to Washington DC. Maybe I should have just gone somewhere else, but I wanted it over. Thanks for all your responses.
Whoopde****ingdo! They threw in a 1K service which amounts to draining fluids and refilling....about $50 bucks at my dealership. Glad you got your tow covered. I would not step one foot in ANY of those four locations. They treated you terribly and are getting away with it.....and now could give a **** less and will treat the next guy the same way. I know its like pissing into a 50 mph wind but I would be all over this like white on rice with the MoCo! I dropped about $30 grand at my local dealership and they forgot about me 5 minutes after I left the parking lot. The ONLY thing a dealership cares about today is MOVING UNITS. Their allocation of new inventory each year DEPENDS ON MOVING UNITS, not on Parts, not on Motorclothes, not on service tickets.....UNITS SOLD, period! The MoCo is still high on "drugs" from sales during the heydays of 2001~2007 and thinks they can push the Buyer in any direction they want.
