It seems that the manager here is trying to resolve the issue so I would at least here him out and attend the meeting.
I'm sure I will sit down and talk to him, but a meeting with him and the service manger is not going to happen. I'm pretty sure thay do not want to give the upgrade money back and I am very sure I do not want to have them work on my bike. I also offered to take the parts they said they ordered and just get the labor money back. That would be ok too.
My .02 talk to the manager, see what happens and what he can offer, maybe in addition to any goody you can see the were closing in 40 minutes get a new position as toilet scrubber. The manager may need you to verify that is what you were told and want it done in front of the offending employee. However meet with the manager no matter what , you can tell him you cannot deal with talking to the service manager that told you that, and he should still work with you but you just may want the smart a$$ there anyway see what he says when you tell the boss with him there. Sometimes employees do things the dealership will not tolerate but owner/managers wern't aware. and if you cannot get satisfaction that way , 2 words "lawyer up"

Talk to the general manager. I suspect he, at least, realizes that his dealership screwed up. I guarantee that the dealership I use (happens to be a 2010 Platinum Bar and Shield awardee) would never have let this happen and I trust that most self respecting dealerships wouldn't either. This is the sort of situation that can make you a customer for life or leave you never wanting to go near them ever again. Have some reasonable compensation request in mind and see what they'll do for you.
My dealer has picked my bike up in an enclosed trailer at my house twice for warantee work, no charge, and I'm about 30 miles from them.
I actually had this happen to me one time in a car. When my wife and I were young, we bought a new Toyota. We were driving on the interstate around Indianapolis and the car just croaked. I had it towed to the nearest dealership (O'Brian Toyota) and told them what had happened. The car was under warranty as it had about 10K on the odometer.
We sat in the dealership for a couple of hours and they came out and said "It's fixed."
We take off and the car croaks again only this time, we're in the middle of a horrible neighborhood. I called the dealership and began talking to the service manager from whom I discovered that they had never actually opened the hood and looked at the car. It started when they went to pull it in and, they put us right back on the road w/o even looking at it.
The shortened version of the story is, I told the service guy that he was going to pay to have our car towed to a different dealership and he just laughed. I also told him that I was going to make his work life miserable if he didnt. Well, he didn't at first.
I paid to tow it to another dealership where they fixed a bad fuel pump. After that, I called Toyota Customer Care everyday for two weeks until I received a check in the mail for that tow bill. That check was issued from O'Brien Toyota.
Sorry for the long post but, if you are persistent, you can force them to do the right thing.
Well this is finally over. The dealer paid for the tow in service. They also threw in a 1K service. All work will be done at another location. This dealer happens to own 4. The only bad news is it will take 3 days to do a 1k service and 5 days for the cams, and they are booked through Sept 12th. I was hoping to get the work complete before I went to Washington DC. Maybe I should have just gone somewhere else, but I wanted it over. Thanks for all your responses.
Thank you for the up-date. I wish more would let us know the out come when they have a problem.
Other then all the waiting you did, and have to do, you did OK.
It is amazing how we dump 20,000 G's and get treated like that. I had to scream at the top of my lungs to get warranty work done. Makes you want to push the bike thru the front window. ( I would say ride it but it has to run first.) Glad you got it resolved, still would never take it to any of his dealerships though. Hope it is your last problem with it.

3 days for the 1K service?
5 days for cams?
And they can't do it until mid September?
You gotta be kidding right. They didn't even offer to put someone on it immediately and get you back out the door? No "front of the line" for a breakdown and $3000.00 upgrade?
In what is still a tough economy and decreased production of HARLEYS you would think the dealer would have sent a trailer to come get you and the bike for one. next would be to get you fixed up asap and get you on your way. They all should smarten up you just laid out 25-30 k its simply good business. Ditch the dealer he sounds like a beauty and as far as moco goes they better wake up, people are not sleeping outside the dealers anymore to place an order for a bike you get a year later! by the way you dont see many young kids riden em either so when were gone there screwed if they dont wake up. Get your 3k back and let everyone know who the ******* dealer is , thats my 2 cents or in this case 2 bucks good luck with the new bike and ride safe,,...o~' o
