I didn't wait 2 hours. I was being eaten alive by mosquitos. I called my local guy. He was there in 13 minutes. I put it on the flatbed and tied it dowm. The kid was scared to death of me and the new bike. ( cuz the skull tatto's? lol) He then drove like 3 miles and hour to get it to my garage. I am trying to get my money back now, but it doesn't look good. The dealership gets paid from the motor comany to assemble the new bike. Something called P&D or something like that. The motor co says the dealer should have seen/found the sensor during setup. I told them I want my prep charge back, because they didn't prep the bike correctly and sent me on my way... I'l prolly just eat the 84 bucks. It will cost them 2000 x 84 bucks before I get done finding people to tell this story to.

This way you did everything you could to keep the situation from getting worse. Sitting on the side of the road for 2 hours is dangerous and not worth the risk.

Yes but I only get one a year, and I figure I may need that tow still. I will get my 3000 of non completed parts and labor back, no question about that one.

It is like Harley has already paid Road America for 1 tow on every bike they sell. EVERY ONE of them. So they want you to use it (that tow) if you need a tow. Not bring them another, more expensive tow bill to add to what has already been spent on the Roadside Program.

As far as returning the bike as a Lemon or getting $3000 back because a wire was unpluged??? Good Luck.

I know it sucks to have something new break down, but it happens. That is what paid for my StreetGlide

Funny. Thanks for the smile.

I would be interested in which dealership treated the OP this way.

There is no excuse period. If I owned a dealership, I'd want to be recognized as having THE BEST service anywhere.

Penny wise and pound foolish, as most dealerships are. They squander a future fortune for a couple of dollars now. Brilliant strategy.

Oh, and one more thing...What goes around comes around, so he'd better be prepared to reap a meager harvest, at best.

News flash. This afternoon when I posted this here I also posted something on Facebook. Well it seems the dealers people must read FB because 75 minutes after I posted I had a voicemail from the general manager saying he just authorized a check for the tow but needed to talk to me about the upgrade. He suggested a meeting with him and the 30 yr old service manager. Thats the same guy that old me "sorry we are going home in 40 minutes and we aren't a tow service". There will not be any meeting.

Just thinking out loud, If I was the manager I think I would have explained that the motor company will not pay the dealer for the tow, so I'll give you a in store gift card for the tow, and then let you turn it in to HOG... That would have been win win...

They said use your once a year HOG tow. The dealer thinks it is the Motor Co's problem and they will not pay for the tow. I needed the tow because the dealers service dept was going home in 40 minutes, so sorry Charlie. They told me to get my own tow truck, have them bring it to the dealer and leave it in front of the outside service door, then I could bring them the keys in the morning. What would you do?
If you financed the bike I'd consider exercising your right of recission with your lender, give the bike back and take your business elsewhere.
