If you buy a new 2012 Harley Davidson Ultra Limited FLTHK and it stops running while you are going down the road headed home from the dealer, and look at the odometer and notice you have only gone 27 total miles when it stops, that Harley Davidson Motor Co does not consider that under warranty and will not pay for the tow. They said use your once a year HOG tow. The dealer thinks it is the Motor Co's problem and they will not pay for the tow. I needed the tow because the dealers service dept was going home in 40 minutes, so sorry Charlie. They told me to get my own tow truck, have them bring it to the dealer and leave it in front of the outside service door, then I could bring them the keys in the morning. What would you do?
I would be pissed and although your SOL, I wouldn't let them fix it under warranty or spend another dime in their shop. That is BS. Let hd know about that on the questionare you will receive shortly!

I did request the 3 grand for the stage 2 upgrade back. They are thinking about it. Cathy at the motor company was cold as could be, she simply didn't care. I doubt the survey makes a bit of difference.
Name Names, which dealer?
I don't want to give them any business.
2.) so make the call to HOG, that's the easiest thing for YOU, to keep from standing on the street.
2b.) the dealer SHOULD have had someone come and pick you up- that's just smart after sale service- at the LEAST they should have had someone wait for you at the shop.
3.) what was the cause?
keep this documented should it turn into a lemon law concern OR you get hit because your bike dies in the passing lane at 75 mph
4.) what compensation do you expect for 1 the inconvenience, 2 the loss of faith in the product, the dealer network and the manufacturer.-- tell them what you want.
You also want a complementary upgrade to unlimited towing package roadside asst.

1) I do not want to say the dealers name until I have the $3000 bucks back.
2) I did call HOG when it happened, they said we will call you right back. 1/2 hour later they called and said stay with your bike, someone will be there from the Northside of Chicago in 2 hours. I was in the south suburbs at least 35 miles away. The next day I called HOG national and they said I had to talk to the motor co, that's when I found out they don't pay for tows, even if it went 5 miles and died. She suggested I use my once a year tow benefit.
2b) Correct, if they would have sent someone, I would have never brought it up. I know stuff happens and I also know you don't buy a new bike and leave for Sturgis the same day....
3) It was a mapping sensor that was not plugged in to the throttle body. It has been fine since. Well for the 120 miles since.
4) Good idea! Thanks

I've never bought a new Harley. But if I did, and I only made it 27 miles before it died and got the kind of customer service you got from the very people you just bought it from, I would take it back and get my money back. I would then devote the next 10 years or so of my life to spreading the news about the dealer; while riding my new Victory.
27 miles and already broke. These bikes are junk. I love mine but the quality is still junk. this forum is full of quality isssues everyday and it pisses me off that harley continues to build junk, well junk that rides great, looks great and sounds great. Ok I feel better now
