you don't say what year model etc.

but once H-D went to dual cables on the carb bikes, I knew that at least i had a 'spare' and if stuck, could pull the return cable and sub it in for the pull cable.

What year bike do you have? If it's the throttle cable, it's easy enough to replace yourself.

Ok, just saw 07....Not a hard repair, figure which cable broke and replace it, I would probably replace both just to be safe, but not really necessary.

Replace both and keep the old for a spare. It might come in handy on a long trip.

My 04 throttle, (pull), cable broke , or I should say the end pulled off one day when I started the bike in the shop to go for a putt. Nice place for that to happen. Not to bad of a job to replace, have to block the tank up a bit to get at it. The idle or push cable on the carbed bikes rarely goes bad.
