But because if this had been a fly by wire bike, there would have been fifty people in here screaming about how fly by wire sucks and Harley needs to go back to a cable system because it's more reliable. Instead, "It's an easy fix. Go ahead and replace it yourself."

yeah have some health issues and sight issues so will prob let dealer do it. just gotta stop by CVS first for the KY Jelly. used to turn wrenches for a living. pisses me off to pay to have my stuff worked on but oh well...... i still cant believe i made it up that hill at an idle in first. was SURE i was gonna b stranded. and a 5 mile ride like that was a leeeeeeeetle emberassing. LOL
you don't need to make a special trip to cvs....harley sells a special lube just for that purpose its called "high pressure head grease"

gotta say im not upset at a part failure at this mileage. just glad i was close to home
outta curiousity wat would i have done if out in the boonies? how hard to pull the grip and manipulate the cable with vise grips or something??
Like a couple of people mentioned, move the throttle return cable over and turn it into an auxiliary throttle cable. That would do ya until you got home.
