I added the Radio Shack siren yesterday and it was a piece of cake. I ran into a little problem getting the ECM off, one of the nuts that are embedded in the plastic case was turning so I couldn't get the bolt out. Figured out that you can take the plastic cover off without taking the ECM off first. Just take the two nuts holding the cover off and cover with ECM come right off.
Instead of cutting the plug off I used an earlier suggestion and simply pushed the ends of the wires from the siren into the appropriate hole on the plug. I then carefully slipped the protective cover back onto the plug holding the wires in place. The a little velcro to hold the siren in place and you done.
The whole job should take 15 to 20 minutes. Took me longer trying to figure out how to get the bolt holding the ECM out. One thing I like is that if you just bump the bike the alarm gives one loud chirp. I was concerned about the alarm going off all the time. The single chirp is a gentle warning to the lookey loos who get a little too hands off. Mess with the bike a little more and the alarm goes crazy.
Thanks to all everyone who has taken the time to post their experiences and suggestions before. You made the job easy.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
Did what I think was the correct procedure for the 08 SG.. Couldn't be easier..(well except for getting the little pezio wires to stay in the connector.)
Pulled the left hand side cover.. The plug is right there.. Brown, green, black. Had a pezio in the package lying around so tried that.. Stickum too old so I used a small tie wrap to attach it to something. Chirps when the bike comes on or off..
Also chirps when I walk away with the fob.. Chirps when I shake the bike.. Didn't get it to go off yet with the full siren sound..
I could be doing something wrong.. But I didn't shake the sh*t out of it either..
i just took the bare wires from the radio shack siren and jammed them into the corresponding holes in the plug, then put the plug cap back on. holds it in place nice and tight, and no cutting/splicing needed.
Well i checked all over the radioshack up here in Canada and they dont sell it no more..
Discontinued item..
Anyone willing to get one in the US for me and send it up here?
Ill pay of course..
