I have a 99 Road King Classic and earlier this year I blew a front head gasket and during the repairs had the rings done.
Not sure if it's just me but the bike seems to be idling a bit low. I believe it's somewhere between 8500-9000 rpm.
I am due for an oil change here very soon, but is there anything that I need to check? First please no that I have very limited mechanical skills and tools.
assuming that there is no problem with the work ( leaks etc.) there is an idle adjust control on that model.
air cleaner cover and filter off---- just to the right of the intake you can stick an allen in there and adjust idle speed.
thinking that although it sounds high, 1100 is a good idle point to keep bearings and top end nice and oiled. that's where I idle my evos.
( although for emissions testing I set closer to 1500)
