Hello all, I would like to get opinions from you, I have an opportunity to buy a 2007 ultra classic cvo with 6k miles and excellent condition for $20k. I did hear that there was a recall on these for leaking head gaskets and was told that this was all taken care of by the dealer. Also I know that this is the older frame, is this going to be that noticeable from my 09 RKC, I have not ridden it yet but do not want to waste anyone's time if it's not a good deal to begin with. I apprciate all replies, favorable or not....thanks.
If it was me, I'd spend that kind of money on a new model. $20k is alot for an 07', low miles or not.
5 year old bike and no warrentee for 20k i would pass or see if he'll come down 5k but if that's what you want it's your decision good luck
The benefit of a CVO is that all the extras that come on the bike are taken into account on the resale value. Unlike non-CVO bikes that have tons of add-ons. A five-year old stock Electra Glide that has the CVO extras added will only appraise at the stock Electra Glide value. You get zilch for the add-ons in a trade-in or resale. A five-year old CVO will include the add-ons in the valuation. I admit that I'm a little prejudiced on this, but resale value is one of the determining factors I considered in buying a CVO vs. a non-CVO and adding the extras later.
If you like the bike, get it and go have fun. That is what it's all about anyway isn't it?
You also didn't tell us what color it was. That may sway the opinions of the forum members as well. You know how black IS the fastest color and has less issues.

yeah i know how trade in or values work, thank god for e bay
That seems like a fair price with it being in excellent condition and low miles. Is the leather on the tour pak in good shape? Does it have all the bag liners and CVO indoor cover with it? I'd make sure the heated grips and seat are working too. They had some nice paint schemes for 07. Which of the 3 is it?
check kelly blue book....sounds way above book. I have an 07 and do not recommend anyone buy one. you can spend days reading all the horror stories...many of which I also had...scissoring cranks...heat issues....primay bearing problems...crank band grind at startup...metal chips in primary almost SOP. 07's were an experiment and failed. Much was improved in 08's, 09's and later. IDS, heat management, better frame, advanced compensator, etc, etc, etc. 08 would be good, 09 would be better.
Heck i got a buddy with a 2011 ultra limited with SE255s, SE/AC, Rinehart true duals, dynoed 92hp and 109tq he said he'd take 21 for. That sounds like a much better deal!
