Thanks for the info. Mine went into limp mode twice today, the first being right after startup so heat wasn't an issue. This will help alot. After all, knowledge IS power.
Thanks for the Info Bouncer! My 2009 Ultra Classic had the RPM idle down to 1000 twice after 10 miles riding. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. The only codes set where P1511 EFI Power Management Mode and P2135 TPS Correlation Error. Discussions with techs said if only the 2135 code set the normal repair is to replace the 6 pins on the Throttle Control assembly on the intake. Quick fix and have run for 60 miles in traffic and heat with no concerns.
Check the TBW plug that plugs into the throttle body and the wires that are part of it. The wires can partially break and when it gets warm will lose contact. buddy had this issue for many years until one day he looked at it.
My bike is still in the shop with the same problem. Induction module. The part is non-stockable and has to come from HD. Last I heard, they were on back order.
Pretty sure your problem is identified in Technical Bulletin TT418A. If you would like a copy of the bulletin pm me and l'll send it to you or try googling it. It's also identified in the maintenance manual to some degree.
Happened to mine after I first got her. Ended up being the twist grip sensor and air induction module wires broken. Stealer lengthened the wires a bit and replaced the pins with gold plated ones, not a problem since ( knock on wood, lol)
If you don't let the ECM system run the scan before starting the engine it will do that. Shout the ignition off and restart the ECM scan over before starting the engine.
I started a thread a few weeks ago about this. It happened to me out of Weed, Ca. I ended up renting a Uhaul and bringing it home. Same thing as said by others, dealer replaced plug and extended wires at throttle body. Hope that fixes it, I'm planning a trip north again in a few weeks.. Will ride around town to test it out. Dealer charged $270 added to 500 for the Uhaul ended up being a pretty expensive ordeal. Oh well, it's worth it to me.. Let's ride!
