10" Yaffe MonkeyBaggerBars (they make version for RK's too)
"mini-apes", not true ape-hangers, but for me they're dead on perfect.
That doesn't mean they would be for you, but the WHY is what matters: I don't like my grips to be low, even the 7 1/2" stock Touring height. I also don't like my hands above my shoulders....comfort-wise on long rides that's an obvious issue as you lose feeling from blood depletion, but even on short rides that's as uncomfortable as being low & feeling like I'm leaning down on the bars.
For my physical size/height, the 10" Yaffe bars put my hands straight out about half an inch or so lower than my shoulders. Exactly where it's most comfortable to me. And no blood draining issues either direction.
The only pic I have is in my sig. 14" Wild 1's. Like was said earlier, they fit me great but may make you miserable. Wrist angle is improved and that will be the same on any height bar, but the key is what is comfortable for you.
I took a couple of coat hangers and bent them up like a set of bars until they were comfortable. Then I took those measurements and figured out which set of bars most closely resembled what I had done. Worked out well for me.
Pic in my sig! Not gonna do you any good tho since it's a SG. I went with 14" Santee apes. I think that 10-11" bars would have looked better on my bike, but i needed taller for comfort. The taller the bars you put on, the straighter you're gonna sit up! I have a bad back and my stock bars were killin me.
I have WO502's and they've totally changed the comfort level of my RKC. I'm 5'8" with 28-29" inseam, not sure about sleeve length but the stock bars were horrible. I didn't like the ride at all. But with these I'm able to either sit back or straight up and a totally relaxed position. I have them slightly tilted forward and my hands are just below shoulder level. I could've possibly went 14" but I may be changing my seat so I'm lower and I didn't want my hands above my shoulders. The width and pull back is perfect. Wrists are at a natural bend.
Riding with the stock bars for any amount of time causes burning between the shoulder blades and numbness in the hands....
The LA Chopper Prime Apes elevated my hands, relieved the pressure from between my shoulder blades and gave me a better wrist angle.
Not to mention that they look damn cool...
*********^^^^^^^
How does the wrist angle on these bars compare to the wild 1s? For me the wild 1s are a little too much of an angle, I need something a little more natural.
