Running an 07 Ultra with 103 and Woods TW 6-6s. I have a PCIII and its been dyno'd. Made the mistake of running a new EG with the 103 and I loved the way the motor produced the power, smooth and quick. I really like my 103 but I ride mainly in the 2500/3000 range and it feels like I am lugging. Great for overtakes though.
My question is, do I pull the cams and go stock, swop for 255s, question the tuning or just realise the grass is ALWAYs greener?
1. Take a look at your AFR chart from when it was dyno'd.
2. If your bike feels like its lugging or pinging at 2500 rpm or higher, you have a problem. Cams, timing, map etc etc could all be contributing.
the 255 would put your torque in the area you ride. but there are other cams that do the same if you do not like se's. If you are running true duals, the cams and the exhaust can contribute to a torque dip in the area you ride in. If you do have true duals pipes you can go cheap and put stock headers back on and you may recover some torque in the area.
when i had my night train i did 95 ci upgrade, heads ported and wildthing tc2 cams on with bassani pro streets. the bike ran great in high rpm but lugged liked you described. i put my stock headpipe on with the crossover on it with some vance and hines slip ons and the bike was a different animal.
right now i'm w a 08 96ci sg w/ 255 cams and even though the gearing is higher than the newer bikes i can roll on my throttle on level ground from 2 k rpm w/o any problem.

Thanks in advance.
Get a +4 advancer & blast off!!! It will bring the 40 intake close down to a 36 ,& let her rip!! it will surely wake that thing up!! You would have to get it installed(unless you do it yourself),& check your P2V clearance. You could also have it retuned, might not need it though!!! This upgrade should be relatively cheap!!
I have an Andrews 4 degree advance cog sitting on a shelf. I might look into the complexities of fitting this first. Don't have true duals - standard headers plus SPOs (and a PowerPacc air cleaner but I am wondering about revisiting the map. And the point about the gearing makes sense. Thanks again guys.
