Yeah I checked into this a couple years ago and went to their website. Now I remember why I passed, $900 plus $300 ? labor if I had the dealer do it. Out of my price range by a lot.

Its available if you want to pay for it. Id say at least a grand or so if you have a dealer install it. Ive had my ultra for about 6 months and i can tell you one thing....ill never have another bike without cruise again. Well worth the $$ in my eyes.

If I hadn't already installed the HD cruise kit on my '04 EG, I'd get the installation instructions for the kit for my bike (77196-04; or 77196-07 if I had an '07) from the dealer parts guy's computer which also includes a list of the parts included in the kit. The dealer parts guy can also use HD's intranet (HDNET) parts locator's "natonal" feature and try to see if a dealer has one of the two kits listed above. Maybe you get lucky and find one of these kits--the -04 kit will work fine on an '07 after the connector on the kit's right side handlebar switch harness is changed out for the OEM connector (i.e. swap the Deutsch connector and sockets for the Molex connector and termnals used on the '07 model). But you probably won't get lucky.

I'd have the dealer parts guy also use his parts locator to find a kit for the Road Kings (77198-07 and -04; and, 77197-07 and -04) and have him print out the installation instructions for those kits.

I'd run the numbers for the parts included in the EG kit and compare them to the p/n's included in the RK kits--the cruise control module and set/resume switch included in the RK kits will work on the EG. It may be that it would be less expensive to buy an RK kit and use the module and set/resume switch included with the kit than buying those parts separately from HD. I'd still need to buy the fairing cap cruise on/off switch and lower right side switch housing separately, and add the set/resume switch to the OEM right side handlebar switch harness on the bike (which would also require purchase of compatible wire terminals to add to the wire ends of the set/resume switch harness to insert the wires into the OEM connector).

Not nearly as convenient as the discontinued kits, and there will be more cost, but adding cruise to an '04 - '07 EG/SG is still doable at relatively modest cost provided the RK kits can still be found.

Carl,

I really appreciate the detailed info. $$$ is really no object here...it's just a matter of finding good advice from those who know, and it looks like you found a way to tame this monster. My dealer seems a little "un-interrested" in looking into it for me. I guess since I didn't buy a $40K SE Ultra, I'm not worth their time. So, I'll take my 07 FLHT down the road to another dealer in the area and start my search. Thanks for everything...you have given me a starting point which is more than I had yesterday.

Thanks,

Mike

If you still have the parts list, post it--may save someone who doesn't have a dealer nearby or one with decent parts people.

Also, see this thread for installation instructions and parts list from the discontinued HD kits. Even after you piece together the parts, the installation instructions may be useful; and, the parts lists may be useful if you're piecing together a kit:

I put the cruise kit on my 07 electra glide classic 3 years ago and they now discontinued it? Boy, that didn't take long!

By the way, I salute you for your service "SALUTE"

The part number that I used was 77196-07. I hope this helps.

Default 2007 cruise contol

This web site claims to have them for $339.95. I do not know what I paid for mine in 2007.

Good luck and thanks for your service from a Viet-Nam vet.

I just had a dealer do the search for me, due to an 07 across the street that will be for sale soon, no luck on the parts.
