I have one on my SG, but don't use it much. I find it moves me too close to the tank. I'm a big guy (340lbs) and it just feel awkward to be sitting that close to the tank, but "IT SURE FEELS GOOD ON THE BACK"....
So, I guess I've have to make a big decision, huh?????
Wife and I rented a Classic up in Colo in June. It came with the drivers backrest. It was very comfortable, but a pain in the a$$ for me to get on and off (I'm used to sweeping my leg over the top normally). Wife thought it was ok (we did about 300 miles that weekend).
This is a great post. I just ordered an 07 Ultra and plan to put the back rest on it. My wife has already said it's more cramped in the passenger seat than on my Road Star so I'm expecting the backrest will reduce that space even more.
Guess the bike won out over the queen on this one. Guess I'll have to do something like take her out to dinner to make up for it.

If she has trouble fitting back there, perhaps you should take her to Subway for dinner..........
6'3" never ride without it....bent the support rods back further (with heat) to suit me. Way to upright, stock! Can stretch out & no vibration transmitted to back.
[sm=funnypostabove.gif]...At 6'5' I don't think a back rest would allow me to push myself back on the seat and stretch out...any other tall riders out there that can tell me if this is true?
