ok bike was fine sat in rain 1 night. next day, no front brakes. lever clear to to grip.now if you pump the brakes a few times you get pressure and brakes. you start to move no brakes again.so pulled mc cover off i had a new gasket laying around so i even replaced it cleaned cover and put it back on, still nothing.bleed the brakes all out both lines(flht) furthest first the the other no bubbles good pressure at lever bike starts rolling no brakes lever all the way to the grip. pump a few times get pressue bike starts rolling nothing again.any suggestions? anyone had this before? im at a loss other than possible bad plunger assembly leaking air cuz i dont have brake fluid leaking from anywhere.
I had a very similar issue with my 03 RKC. front brakes worked fine - then one day.... the lever goes all the way to the grip. took it to my local dealer (Alamo City). the fix was to remove and clean the front calipers, replace orings and reinstall. I was told they gunk up with brake dust. only cost me 1/2 labor.
Sounds like a rebuild on your master cylinder. Somehow all pressure/fluid is bleeding back and not to the calipers. I rebuild mine every couple of years along with flush and clean every year during winter layup. Hope this is an easy fix. -- Tom
You have a bent brake rotor...When bike is rolled the bent portion of the rotor pushes the caliper pistons back in their bores...Brakes then require pumping to regain pressure...Check your rotors.
Have you recently replaced the front tire or perhaps installed a custom wheel...I am curious as to what might have caused it...I have seen rotors bent if care isn't taken when installing a tire...Also when custom wheels are installed and not set up correctly which can cause the rotor to overheat and warp it.
