This 70 yo geezer just got back from Sturgis, 4k miles on my '06 SG. Had Mean City
Cycles do the memory foam seat mod before I left - thank god. I'm 185 lbs and they
said memory foam alone without gel would be good to go and they were right IMHO.
Had Mustang seats before and they're good but lift my 5'9" butt up too high. Of all
the suggestions you've received, I like this one best - not that any others are wrong.
Fuel Moto stage 1 and Heritage bars are soooo popular they can't hardly be argued
with. Jamie at Fuel Moto is tops and what he sells does work.

I just got a RK and these were/are the mods I'm doing:

1.) Cruise Control/ABS (came with it)
2.) Lowered rear end and got reduced reach seat (I'm short, might have them lower front end too, sent stock seat to MeanCity to see if that'll be enough)
3.) Heritage bars. Love them so far.
4.) Speedo/Tach: Easy job I could do myself on a day that I was on call for work so I couldn't ride. I like having a tach, especially for breaking in, and I like the customization.
5.) Security system (came with it, but have siren and fob coming).
6.) Once I get my height where I want it, I'm cutting the windshield.. It's way too high.
7.) Slip-ons, headers, air, tune.

I pretty much went: Safety/Being able to ride it easy --> Comfort --> Performance

Philo111 What you need to do is ride it and what ever doesn't seam
comfortable to you, fix or replace it. Then every thing that doesn't feel
right to you, fix or replace it. Then every thing that doesn't look right to
you, fix or replace it. Then start on the engine

The first 3 things were as follows: 1. Replaced handlebars with Heritage "Style" bars.
2. Added 4 point docking hardware for sissybar and luggage rack
3. Bought sissybar and luggage rack
