Hi to all that got the tranny or drive train problem I have a 06 Ultra and a friend of mine purchased a 07 Ultra , he asked me to take it for a drive and I asked him what I was looking for and he said will it sounds Like rocks in a can and I didn't drive it very far before I heard it, so then I decided to take it on the Highway and I didn't like 5 gear at all to much whine and 6 gear you have to be going to fast to get into it on the roads I mostly drive on, I've owned and worked on Harley Davidson Motors and Trannys for 30 years and to me Harley didn't do there home work on this one , The Engine by the way was much smoother than my 06and I don't know why they didn't make 5 gear and 6 gear quite for the highway, at first when I heard of all the changes for 07 I was wishing I would have waited but as of now I would rather have my 06, so to all I'm new to the form but I hope the Motor Company gets this fixed for you all.
Newf, welcome but a 07 tranny thread is at this point as useless as **** on a Boar Hog, if you want to read about them, do a seach which is a good thing to do before posting on a subject .Its a great way to find answers. Just to update you on the 07, The clatter is coming from the compensator not the trans. the 5th gear whine is do to 1st and 5th being a different cut from the others and it is normal for the 07. If you want scary stories do a search on all the issues that effect your 06 model!
Thanks Gunny, if only it was already Autumn 2007, then we would see all the dates in the texts of all the posts increased by 1 year!!LOL

I for one am not bothered by repeated posts regarding subjets already covered, i.e. 07 trannys, etc.. Some look at this terrific forum on a daily basis and can therefore keep up with all the lastest topics. Others, like me come on line only a couple times a week and therefore miss alot of posts and interesting topics. Search engines don't always work as well as one might like. When I see something I am already enlightened about, I just skip it and go on to something new. I don't begrudge others that all of a sudden think of something they want info on or think this or that subject, already covered, would be interesting. Madav8tr, I don't mean anything by this but a single post by a newbie isn't enough info to form such a strong opinion about said newbie. Frankly, I didn't see anything in the post that made me think he was "trashing" the 07's. How about giving him the benefit of the doubt. If he's a troll it will come out as he posts more often. Then you and I can jump him together.

I have followed most of the posts on the tranny noise and 5th gear whine. I have only had the 07 UC a couple of weeks but just dont hear it. I guess I am one of the lucky ones.
This forum is here, in my opinion for ALL of us, new and old to learn, share and relate to our bloved machines. My opinion again, all posts are welcome, repeats or not.

The post struck me as yet another '07 bashing thread. Everything from "Harley didn't do their homework" to "first when I heard of all the changes for 07 I was wishing I would have waited but as of now I would rather have my 06" sounds like another '07s suck thread. If I started a thread about how much better the 2007's are over the previous years bikes then it would ruffle a few feathers, without a doubt. If I did it as my 1st post I am sure it would sound like trolling. Besides, what exactly did this guy say that hasn't been repeated on here a billion times. To me he sounds like he just finished reading Pitt's posts on the '07 tranny trouble he was having. Nothing new or ground breaking there.
i never understood why people act as if they own the company that makes the bike.
and get insulted and go on to insult people that post a legitimate or maybe not legitimate question.
if it were your own bussines or your own manufacturing concern i could undertsand it ,but even then the fact is that people who own buss. and make products do in fact welcome such questions and criticism because it helps them improve the product.
a bike is a bike is a bike . whether it is a harley or honda or whatever. why get emotional about it .specially when it is not made by you ?
and you have no finacial gain from it .
nor any other type of gain other than maybe an emotional one .
Madav8tr [sm=feedback.gif]...c'mon tell us how ya really feel...and don't hold nothin' back this time! I find the '07 tranny posts...entertaining, enlightening...heck, even hilarious.
It just takes one jack *** to jump on people that makes people not want to post on here any more. If you didn't like what he said just go to the next thread! At this point with all the things I've read on here I don't want a 07 I'll keep my 04 and be very happy with it. To all the guys who ran out and bought a 07 so they could say they have a "better" bike than everyone else, I'm here to tell you you don't, you just have something different, no better no worse!

How do you know? Did you buy an '07 and then turn around and sell it to buy your '04? No? Then you are basing your opinion on the things that you have heard most likely. Posts about this "problem" with the '07's have probably scared alot of people away from the '07's. The '07s don't have any more or less problems than any other year and I don't believe that the transmission in the new bikes are any more or less problematic. Has any '07 owner traded down for a prior year? If so, I would like their opinion but I ride an '05 daily so I have a good opportunity to compare them back to back, everyday, and I know that my '07 is a better bike. For calling me a jackass for jumping on the guy, I could care less. I call things like I see them. He posted something on here that in my opinion was started just to revive a dead issue and see what kind of responses he could get..............in short he was trolling.
