Default Progressive Drop-In Kit

Ok, I just finished installing a Progressive Drop-In lowering kit in my '05 RK Classic and took it out for a 50 mile spin. Unfortunately the thing rides like a damn truck!! The chart for my bike says .75" on the spacer but it doesn't say how much it will lower it or the effect it has. I PM'd a couple of people on the boards here what spacer length they were running and one guy said 1 1/4" which dropped him 1.5", so I went with 1 1/4's on mine. Putting the caps on the shocks was an absolute bitch, but I got them together with the parts only shooting out and down the driveway several times per shock.

Now in thinking about the theory of this setup, shouldn't it actually be the shorter the spacer, the smoother it will ride and the lower the bike will be?

Right now with 1.25" in it, and as tough as it was to put back together, I would think that the shocks are extended as far as they will go, hence the shitty, hard ride and less lowering.

I forgot to measure the bike before, so I don't have a reference point as to what height it started out. I wanted to go down about an 1" to 1.5" in the front and then I have HD lowered air shocks for the rear which will bring the rear down 1".

Is my theory correct?

I was going to call Progressive, but the comments I saw on here regarding their "support" kept me from calling. I believe one member even referred to them as "*******". LOL!!

Any advice or/and guidance would be appreciated.

I have the monotube and am not familiar with your set up, but when I had an issue during the install, I called progressive and they were very knowledgeable and helpful.

Default Old springs out

How do I get my original springs out? I am working on a Street Bob and have no idea how to remove them.

I put this kit in also. First time with a 1/2" spacer, was too low for any 2up riding as rear tire would scrub top front of rear fender. Took it part & put in 1" spacer, still scrubs in hard dip while 2up riding. Either way, still rode like hell with no rebound.

I've already had the HD lowered springs in there, they ride like crap. Now I'm trying this and from what I am seeing, my spacers are too long.

I think I'm going to give this lowering thing one more shot with correct spacer length. If it doesn't work out this time, stock springs are going back in. I'm tired of taking it apart.

I'd rather ride it instead of work on it
