Ill add to this a little, I did the same, when I sat on the passenger seat, it was very uncomfortable, no way someone can ride like that, so I broke out the air stapler and hijacked the wifes electric knife and did some surgery on it, 100% better and very comfortable, also added foam to the flap that hangs down, did the same on the red bike with a chopped pak.

When buying a cheap backrest, the TCMT brand seems pretty good, or should I say the material used seems pretty good,, since every cheap backrest I've ever seen looks like a 3 year old assembled it, take it apart, trim it up and reassemble, then it's OK.
