Has anybody changed their console out with one from an Ultra to give you the headset hook up? If so, how much would the complete swap cost & is it hard?
I wire a headphone jack for my ear buds into the stereo- pretty easy./
I put the jack down by my thigh, run the cable up under the tank into the fairing and just tap into the speakers--- I use an inline volume control ( radio shack) to attenuate the signal to the earbuds.

I did it to my Classic a couple years ago when I added the intercom and CB. It wasn't difficult but i don't remember what it cost.
Eventually I want the whole CB/Intercom setup. I will be buying those modules down the road. But for now I want to be able to hear my stereo (with good quality) when I am wearing a full face. Some people here on this base say that you are required to wear a full face others say no. Being military it changes almost daily so I want to be prepared.
I changed the console on my 09 SG. Don't remember the price. It wasn't to complex but I had a friend help who installs car stereos. I changed the console because I also added the CB and XM radio. Bought both off ebay and saved some dough. Now everything is controlled from the handlebar switches. No wires hanging around clean and neat. Listen to the radio from my helmet speakers and even at highway speeds don't need to blast the volume.

Now that my friend is what I wanted to hear. Thanks. Once all of my belongings are delivered I will start looking at part numbers and looking on eBay.
According to the last portion of the above, '08 and newer FLHX models reuse the console, etc.--basically you're only replacing the trim piece on your OEM console with one that accepts the rider headset connector.
