I have the same sound on my 2012. My dealer calls it gear rattle. Only there when hot and in neutral. I do believe that's what it is because when I pull in the clutch it goes away. Sure sounds like a piece of junk though. This is my seventh harley and the first one that has noticeable gear rattle. I'll likely put some thick fluid in to reduce the noise some. Makes me want to not put it in neutral around other riders on other brands because it certainly attracts attention. Personally I feel it's too loud.
That doesn't sound normal to me. Dealers like to say things are normal so they don't have to deal with them. If i were you, I would take it in to the dealer and say FIX IT. If they again say it's normal, say PROVE IT and go hand pick a random 2011 FLHX from their floor and say let me hear THAT one do it. My 2010 FLHX does NOT sound like that. JMHO
..is that the new "103 Clean-Diesel" I've been hearing about?...seriously...I'd be aggravated if I had to listen to that every time I went riding....not normal!
Damn man Seriously,That's the exact same sound I heard before the sprocket spun on my camshaft, How long has it been doing it?? Mine also sounded like it was comming from tranny cuz I thought I would make it home and I got about 2 miles and it spun. read my post about my issue I posted pics.At least you have warrenty left, I would ask that dealer if your skoot has those pos pressed cams.. That's bs should not sound like that, I also thought it was exhaust leak cuz I was getting some backfiring..
