Picked up my new 2012 Electra Glide Classic on Friday. It's White and Midnight Pearl, with ABS, Security and Cruise. I got some of the Chrome swapped over from my 09 RKC that I traded in, and installed Avon Grips. I also removed the Cat yesterday, the Heat from it was unreal. So far I'm loving the Bike.
Thanks for looking
Dom
Awesome Bike, All I can say is WOW!!!!
one question what do you mean by removing the Cat? If it cools the bike down I gotta know. Thanks Bill
bill1nat, please see Post #20 in this Post, see pics too. Yes, I removed the Catalytic Converter from the stock pipe. The heat on the right side under my right thigh and on my GF's right leg was UNREAL. It was all coming from the Cat. It's ALL GONE NOW, no more heat since I removed it. It does not sound like Honda anymore too. So it sounds better, runs better and no more heat too. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/8785494-post20.html
DannyZ71, you leave the O2 Sensors hooked up just as they were. They actually help compensate for the Cat being gone. They helped richen it up some, and no, it does not throw any codes or check engine light either. I read all about it on here before I did it. WOW, what a difference it made. The stock Slip Ons even sound decent now too.
My buddy used a Cut Off Wheel to cut the rectangular plate out (access hole).
Then he Tig Welded the plate back on with Stainless Steel Rod, so it would not rust.
That is sweet. I need to find a buddy, or anyone, down here that can do that and knows what they're doing.
The difference is unreal. Well worth it for sure. My bike had 150 miles on it when we gutted it, and it now has 275 miles on it. It runs perfect, and NO HEAT, and the spark plugs look good too.
I still plan on doing an SE Air Cleaner, Slip On's and a Power Commander V too, but until then, the bike is bearable
