Ok, I bought these slip-ons when I bought the bike. Everyone at the dealership raved about them. I went with their suggestion instead of trusting my gut and waiting on Reinharts. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I wanted to change but I wanted to have something statistical to base it on (a curse of an analytical mind and being in the medical field for 10 years).
I purchased a very well reviewed dB meter for my trusty iPhone and put it to good use. I took some measurements from 10 feet from the bike at idle. After about 1000 miles the readings are very similar to the stock idle readings from Jamie @ FuelMoto in his thread on Jackpot dB levels. I don't have a tach so I can't complete the test as accurately as Jamie did but I do know the levels at WOT is 102 dB.
I am looking at Jamie's Jackpot slip-ons or Reinharts, both of which are noted on Jamie's thread to be 84 dB at idle and 93 and 98 respectively at 2000 RPMs.
Armed with these numbers and knowing that I'm not happy with the loudness of my pipes, Am I looking at the right pipes for my tastes?
I just realized I didn't ask the correct question.
I want a slip-on with a deep, loud note and I'm not happy with what I have. Will the states presented by Jamie from the Jackpots and Reinharts be deep and loud enough. I'm not a good judge of what dB levels mean.
