kickstand safety switch
Hey all:
I'm brand new to HD and the forum. I just purchased an '07 ultra classic and this is the first bike I've owned that appears NOT to have a side stand safety Switch. When the bike is in gear and the stand goes down I am used to the bike shutting off. With my Ultra the bike keeps running.
Is this normal?
Thanks,

I noticed that on my street glide also, my honda wouldn't move with the stand down and would shut off when I put the stand down. But not on my street glide, I thought something must be broke, glad to hear it wasn't just my bike. This must be a normal harley thing.

I am trying to decide if it is a good thing or a bad thing not having one. What do ya'll think¿

I would prefer not to have the "safety" switch. I like to fire it up before I get on to let it warm up a few seconds...it sounds like the "safety" switch would prevent that. I would like to have control over when to shut it off. Just my two cents...

Do you think if harley comes out with this the switch would be chrome? I can see it now $199.00 black or $499.00 chrome

Might be a neat idea to some folks, not something I would ever want - although I might know somebody that may have tried to ride off with their jiffy stand deployed (Harley parlance for kickstand/sidestand for you nu-bees) they were either hotdogging or had one too many sasparillas and deserved the embarrasment it caused... now if they'd been unable to start said scooter their friends would have been robbed of years of good natured ribbings.
there is no clutch interlock switch either, except on the police bikes.
you can start the bike in gear.... another profit center for the MOCO selling replacement body work.
