Ok Guys, I need some first hand experience. Yes I have read the directions, yes I have searched the forums. What I am looking for a is a thread that doesnt get filled with crap about other kits, rear setups, etc....
The info I am looking for.
How long are your spacers, and how much did it lower your bike? Also, please post what model and year your bike is.
I have installd 3 drop in kits and they NEVER give me the results the chart shows. I want real world experience.
I have my bike torn apart right now and will be coming back with fresh painted fairings and I DO NOT want to tear it apart because I got the wrong amount of drop.
I did the Progressive drop in spring kit. I've had the bike apart three times, first time no spacer (2" drop according to the instructions) the bike went down well over 2" looked like crap, didn't even try to ride it. Second time used a 1/2" spacer bike was at 2" of drop rode very firm one up, way to harsh two up. Third time used a 3/4" spacer bike is at 1.5" of drop. Rides firm both one, and two up. Almost all the nose dive under braking is gone. Handling is much better than stock.
i have the kit in my09 rg.i also ended up with a3/4 spacer the second time around.i also ended up with the heavy weight oil, with the light weight it rode like a pogo stick.had no rebound at all.
2010 street glide. Drop in kit I cut spacer to 1 inch I got 1 inch drop. I measured my drop sitting on side stand before and after on the underside frame rail and several other spots. Used SE heavy fork oil and am happy with front end. Keep in mind I am a light rider at 175lbs.
I'm STILL trying to dial mine in. I've had it apart 3 times so far. I cut mine to 1 1/8" (per Justin at Progressive) and got almost an inch lower out of it...i believe the exact is 7/8 (measured from the bottom of my blinker/driving light bracket to the top of the front fender). I haven't ridden it yet....that will happen saturday. If it rides good, I will probably take it apart 1 more time and cut off another 1/4". I want to put some miles on it and let the springs settle a tad before I dive in again. I put lowered rear shocks on it and it looks to me like the nose is still about 1/2" too high now. I'm also running SE heavy shock oil. I believe for my bike, the Progressive paperwork said 7/8" for a full 2 inch drop, but I think it would have to be smaller for mine to go 2".
