ORIGINAL: Gutman

Rhino, Power Commander I, II, III, and IIIr are JUNK. The Power Commander USB is a good tool. The SERT gives the tuner 260 cells per cylinder, which adds up to 520 cells to properly tune front AND rear cylinders. The adjustments made to midrange fuel at cruising speeds under load with a SERT can be much more precise and definded compared to a USB. The USB gives a fuel table with 162 cells for fuel and then blend's front and rear cylinder. This migh not sound like much but it gives the tuner the opportunity to define between midrange fuel and 80-100% 13.5:1 fuel mix for max power. What does all this mean. MORE fuel economy with the SERT! The PC is good. The SERT is better.

If you want more cells to tune then look at the Thundermax it has 1900 such cells.

Default RE: PC III vs SERT

I've spent hours reading on the SERT vs PC III. First off neither require a dyno to use or are limited by the EPA. Neither void the warrenty. Both are excellent products for the DIYer. I can sum up hours of reading in 3 simple statements

1) If you are paying someone to install and tune it. Find out what they like best and buy it!!

Install and tuning yourself.

2) SERT: Easier to install (hook up a cable and remove when done). You program the ECM. Has the MOST tuning capabilities including data logging... A little harder to master. If you like tuning you are only limited by YOUR abilities. (not the EPA, not Harley).

3) PCIII: Cheaper. Can be removed and used on another bike. Faster to work with due to more canned maps availible...down load and ride. You program a piggy back device not the ECM. Piggyback device must be mounted on bike.

Both are a great choice. I have a SERT and enjoy fine tuning my bike....I may be slightly bias but the PC III is a great product too and there are lots of PC III fans. It really depend on how involved you want to get in tuning and how much time you have to fine tune. You need to decide what matters most to YOU.

Hopefully this will help you decide. If its a popularity vote put me down for SERT.

Here's a link to a thread on tuning the SERT w/ WEGO II. Good info.

link would not post as it is a competing forum I guess.
