I have the LA Choppers Prime Apes which are 13's. My hands are above the fairing, but the fairing does a great job of deflecting and re-directing most anything up and over your hands. I ride in all weather and temps and they are just fine.
12" PYO Monkey Bars, the Monkey Bars tend to run higher based on the research I did. So basically my 12's measure out at 14. Either way the comfort and the attitude are frigging awesome!

You mentioned shoulder pain....I have a disc problem and I feel like I am reaching with stock bars. Do you think having 10 inch apes would help me to not reach?
I think 10" are a waste of money. Not that much different from stock. I tried several different brands and settled on the Cyclesmith 13s. Yes it Def helped with the shoulder.
i have 10" Monkey Bars and i LOVE them, and i'm pretty sure they weren't a "waste of money"....
I'm 5'6" and the bars are at a nice height in relation to my shoulders and my hands don't stick up above the fairing, which in the colder months is nice...

Oh HELL! I forgot which site I was posting on and here I have stepped on some toes and hurt some feelings! I should have put IMO in my first post. They measure monkey bars different than all others evidently. A 10'' monkey bar is as tall as 13 Cyclesmiths.
Thats 12" from center to center
so i have a set of wild ones that are 14 they look higher than yaffes 12s and mine are killing me so im thinking of switching to the yaffe but should i go with 12s or 10s if there the same hieght

IN MY OPINION!!!! The best thing to do is find a bike at a bike night or at your local dealer and try them out. I was fortunate to be able to ride 4 different bikes with various different brand bars. I was going with WOs until I tried the Cyclesmiths. Try as many you can!
