For one, you are negating any benefits of the 26 by the true duals. You lose more than "a little bit" of TQ with them. Also what is the Fuel Moto tune supposed to be for, the air filter? And how does the tune affect the power curve? Forget the pulley change. That's for race builders.

Funny you mentioned that. I was looking at some vrod dyno charts and those things lay down 125hp at the back wheel with a stage 1. I was impressed

To the OP don't guess on what you need. You have to find someone who is competent and can tell you what's going on, if anything. Could be a myriad of issues or just as simple as a bad tune. Either way don't throw money at it or parts. Pay for a dyno and/or some diagnostics first. Based on what you have you should at least be able to hang with them.

First things first. You didn't mention how many miles on the motor. Do a compression and leak down test; once you know the condition of the top end, you can make the next move.

Your mechanic should have compression and leak down testers; if not, find another mechanic or go buy the tools and do the test yourself. I am betting you wil find part of the problem.

Nothing has gone astray, the map doesn't change. Part of your problem is trying to use the map with the old MM EFI system. You need to eventually get the bike on a dyno and the motor tuned but address the issues first; like establishing the condition of the top end.

One thing that isn't adding up is that the '99 EFI bikes came with 3.37 final drives; you should have that going for you. I would pull the chain case cover and verify the tooth count on the sprockets and the tooth count on the trans and wheel pulleys. I know 88" bikes with 3.37 gearing and mild cams that will spank a Stage I 96"er.

Yes, you should be thinking about head work and more cam (TW37) to go along with the headwork and more compression; a simple BigBoyz street port would make a big difference. A 2:1 pipe would help but the duals are not your problem and Fullsac makes a good system.

Get the compression and leak down test done, post the results and there is enough help on this forum to put you back in the hunt with your two riding buddies.

DJ has given you some excellent advise. The 3:37 gearing equals one gear. The bike with the lower gearing can stay in 5th while the other needs to downshift to keep up. I have been in your exact position and finally got mine sorted out thanks to DJ and others like him. Lose the ful-sac dual kit. Its a good product for what its intended but performance isnt it. I sold mine and installed Rinehart TDs and my build came to life! A good tune also goes a long way! My 88ci with stock heads beats a stage 1 103. My 05eg with 95 big bore kit beats goldwings, 110CVOs, and even a couple of earlier V-Rods.

You win by just going on a ride. No need to be up front.
