I've installed them. Don't know whether they make a difference in terms of heat but they sure do hide the messy wiring behind the engine!!

They came installed on my bike. I took them off. Man it's really hot without them on. I didn't realize they worked so good till I removed them. Now I get to reinstall them. Good thing its super easy.

I have the Kury one's on my '06 RG. Easy to install, look good, and with the heat the way it is here in Phoenix they did the job.

If you do decide to make them, please consider those of us who have installed adjustable rider's seat backs. HD's adjustment device precludes the use of heat shields on the left side. If you can design a shield that still works with the adjustment latch in place, you'd have a sure sale here!
