My worry is the stealer denying warranty because of this and what if it stops working 1000 miles from home? Hows the reliability? The fact they had refurb units scares me.
I've talked to people with quite a few miles on there thundermax units and they did nothing but praise it. I think the refurbs are due to the upgrading of the older units. Why get it in two pieces when you can spend a little extra and get it all in one unit? I have one that I'm getting installed at the end of the month along with Rinehart TD's and an Arlen Ness Big Sucker. Will definately post results when it's all said and done.
I installed my tm and carried for the ride to tune itself. I Couldn't believe the difference. Stopped by the dealer and asked my salesmanto ride the bike. He agreed but wanted to know what he was looking for, I told him to just ride and give me his thoughts and get it to 55 and put it in sixth gear. He quicky informed me you couldn't do that it had to be 65 to 70 for sixth. However I convinced him to try it. When he came back the first words were what did you do to the motor. I told him nothing and he said it pulled to hard not to have something done to it. He now wants to know where to get a tm. I am tickled to death with it. sugarbear
They tried for two months to get a Thunder Max to work on my 2007 Ultra with Peacemaker mufflers and SE air cleaner. I even sent it back twice to Zippers. When they could not get it to run to my liking they gave me a complete refund with no problems at all.
I'm now back to the stock ECM and the Peacemaker pipes and stock AC. The bike runs fine just not great.
I'm not changing anything anymore I've rode Ultras with SERT's in them, they don't run that much better then mine so I'll just stick with Harley's stock ECM for now..
Think I am settling on the Tmax, plan to do heads and cams later, not going BB, worried about the Crank bearing. The question is where is the best place to pick one up?
