rather than a ball end I use a 1/4" screwdriver bit, work it into the allen head ( butt end first of course), and turn it with an open end 1/4" wrench.
I was pretty surprised how loose my bolts were.
I used my torque wrench to 20 ft lbs at the fasteners I could reach, then tried to get a feel for the force required with the bit/open end wrench method.
I have marked the heads at the 6 o'clock position, so have a quick visual check.
No offense intended but I think that blue loctite along with the new torque spec would be more than adequate. Red is too much in this application IMHO.
None taken and if I may give my reason. It is recommended to replace locker washers after use, as they tend to compress and lose their spring, if not, a little locktite. On 3 of the four bikes I looked at, 4 bolts were found loose and 2 on the other. Even the one behind the oil filler cover, which you have to take off the exhaust to get at the cover bolts, was loose. In each case the bolt hole had oil in it, with getting it all out somewhat hard to do. When using the red locktite it gets diluted somewhat by the oil in the hole and I mean it's only a small drop. JMO
