I have a Road King and I put on an aftermarket fairing (love it). It came with a 9" straight windsheild and I have since replaced it with a 10" recurve. I look just over it.

I wonder if it's just a difference in expectations. Road King riders still expect to be out in the wind. Maybe Glide purchasers are looking for more of a windfree bubble. As you point out, the windshield replacements would suggest that, as would the number of "buffeting" threads where Glide riders complain of wind buffeting. Road King riders don't seem to complain about that either.

I've had both types and kept both stock height. I like windshields and they have deflected some stuff I was glad didn't hit me. Windshields are a good thing. I give an #$@& what the appearance is as long as they do their job and looks is not part of it. Thank you -

Swapped OEM for a 21" LRS Recurve on my King in hopes of buffeting relief. It made a minor difference in my case.

Just ordered my 19" LRS dark tint and waiting on UPS to arrive to check it out. the 21" OEM on my '12 RK was just a bit too tall and I hate looking through the windshield.

Replaced the stock shield on my 2012 RKC with a 19" LRS flare. Didn't have wind or buffeting problems but the height was a little too tall for me. Wind protection is about the same but I can see over it much better. Went with the medium tint as well. Bought mine off a forum member for a really good price. Probably would have just kept the stock one on if not for the price I got.

I replaced the stock 20" screen on my Road King with a 19" Memphis Shades screen.

Just recently swapped it out to an 11" screen because with the full face helmet, the air coming over it actually lets the full face function as it should.

I will be swapping that screen out for a Glide Pro fairing, maybe go back and forth as needed.

I had a king and didn't replace the windshield so I would assume most don't. No real reason there because it's already high enough. The one on the SG's is low and for show only so most people try and get something that looks and works well. Obviously with most people trying more sizes and brands there doesn't seem to be one outstanding unit out there.
