Transmission question...
I have been away from the forums for a while but remember hearing a lot about Inner Primary Bearings and noticed that was part of the work done on my bike when they just replaced my transmission. I am curios if you guys smell BULLSHIT?
Here are the nuts and bolts of it. I have an 09 street glide. No engine modifications other than Bub 7 slip ons. At a red light in neutral. Light turns green, I put into gear and I heard some weird noise. I ride to my dealer and they take the bike in for service.
They diagnosed that the transmission fluid dipstick broke off and chewed away at the transmission and need a replacement. Parts are on back order and they take 2 weeks to fix it. This happens 25 days after factory warranty expires.
I have the ESP and pay $50 for a $1100 job. The ESP just paid for itself. But I argue why I should pay anything at all, if it was a manufacturers defect. I get no where with service. Pay my $50 and I am on my way.
Leave the dealership as it is closing, and start my ride home. Ten minutes into the ride and a JO cuts me off. I grab the brake and lay on the air horns. No horns. Pull over to check the air hose and they are fine. Get home to discover they never reconnected the horn to the battery.
Call them the next day to complain and didn't even get an apology.
So I have the bike for two weeks and go away for four days with some friends. We do about 1300 miles. I stop at a light by my house and hear the same noise.
Service is closed on Sunday and Monday, so I will bring it back on Tuesday. I know the title says Transmission question, but it is more of a rant. I guess my question is, Do you believe this BULLSHIT? What is the deal with these inner primary's going bad? Who else has had a problem.
Thanks,
Keith
