Someone explain to me the reason to remove the switch with the forks locked.

I've had my switch out a couple times and each time I placed it pointing straight up to off before removing it. I pushed the release under it and it came right out. I put it back in the same way.

It keeps you from having to finger diddle it when assembling it again. Once the "keys" inside the lock get out of alignment, it can be a real PITA the get it back correct. Using Cll's way, there's no real alignment problem.
