I went to my local dealer to get new plugs for my 07 RKC. The plugs were over a year old and in need. I had the choice of the "standard"(8.00) or "screaming eagle"(16.00) plugs. I went with the SE plugs. Did I waste my money or is there an advantage to the SE plugs?
Some people say here say that the harley plugs have some special magic that only works with harleys.
After doing some searching, this anti knock feature is detected through the wires and coil. Anti knock feature read current resistance through the spark plugs.
Im not sure if the guy on harleyhelp is right but somehow you disable that feature by changing spark plugs that aren't oe? Seriously? All sparkplugs are made pretty much made the same way since the dinosaurs have roamed the earth. The only difference is the materials used and the quality of how they are made.
The anitknock feature is read through the wires so changing the wires out will affect it
Changing to SE plugs on my 07 screwed up the anti-knock system and I wound up changing back. you don't need to check the plugs every year.....10,000+ miles

10,000 miles is not much, I have to change mine 2 or 3 times a year, usually 2, I can wait until spring for the 3rd change. I have 20,000 miles on mine now. I just check them and clean them, put them back in and they keep working just fine.
