I have an 84 FLHT with the evo and was curious if anyone knows if a inner and outer fairing would work on it. I know the fork lock is completely different but I am not really worried about that just want to have the look of the newer fairing and not the old one like I have.
to swap the inner fairing, and buy the instruments and figure out how to drive them (like the speedo--- and do all the wiring, and figure out the supports...
would be an adventure.
the evo fairing to '95 uses front wheel speedo drive, and shares alot of parts with the flhs (which has the instrument pod on the forks above the headlight)- it has the sppedo and tech in the same housing--- if you got one of those you might be able to swap alot of your stuff into it
the post 96 is still pretty much the same now- separate speedo and tach ( both round) and 4 positions for other guages.
I have aquired an inner fairing off a newer bike and I don't mind wiring up the gauges or anything and I plan on putting an electric speedo in the fairing... I just wanna make sure I don't need to change the triple trees or anything if I'm not going to use the normal fork lock.
